How do I report the death of a U.S. citizen?
The death of a U.S. citizen, whether resident or tourist in Brazil, should be reported to the nearest Embassy or consulate so that a Report of Death of a U.S. Citizen Abroad can be issued. This document is necessary to settle legal and estate matters in the United States.
For additional information regarding the death of a U.S. citizen please see the Embassy website at https://br.usembassy.gov/ . Under U.S. Citizen Services, select “Death of a U.S. citizen”.
