As of February 27, 2022, the U.S. Embassy in Lima is able to receive certain adult passport renewal applications by mail. Currently, the mail-in renewal option is only available at certain DHL drop-off locations.

In general, to apply for a U.S. passport, you must:
- Fill out the appropriate application form;
- Provide evidence of U.S. citizenship;
- Provide supporting documents;
- Provide a photo;
- Pay the appropriate fee; and
- Submit the application.

You must bring your printed appointment confirmation page, completed forms, and original documents to your interview.
When scheduling the appointment, you should make a written note of the following:
- The appointment confirmation number generated.
- The date and time for your appointment. You will not receive email confirmation of the appointment date.
- The appointment password. You will require the password if you need to cancel the appointment. No record of your password is kept at the Embassy.
Each applicant requiring a service at the Embassy must have a separate appointment. Please contact the embassy or consulate if you are unable to schedule passport or CRBA services for all of your minor children on the same day:

When you book the appointment, it is vital that you print or note down your password and the appointment date and time. You will not receive an automated appointment confirmation email or reminder emails.
Appropriate application forms for the required passport service can be found on the Embassy’s website at: https://pe.usembassy.gov/passports/
If using the online version of the application form, once you have answered all the questions the form will generate as a PDF file. You must print the application form as it cannot be submitted to the Embassy electronically. If you have difficulty with the online application form, there is a downloadable PDF version which can be printed and completed by hand using black ink.

You may pay by:
- For most passport services, payment is made on the day of the appointment, at the Embassy. The fee can be paid in cash (in U.S. Dollars or Peruvian Nuevos Soles), or with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or Diners Club). Local debit cards, personal checks, money orders or banker’s drafts are not accepted.
For adult passport book renewals by mail (not for passport cards), payment can be made online.
Please note the fee is a non-refundable processing fee and is retained by the Department of State, whether the passport is issued or not.

If no appointment is available when you first check, please check the calendar periodically for any newly released appointments.
Appointments are released periodically. The appointment calendar operates in real time so will show any available appointments, including appointments available due to cancellations. Appointments will not be released on a specific date or time so please regularly check the calendar for availability.
